Account access and encryption

Private program records use account-specific Firestore access rules. Our server verifies your Firebase sign-in before opening purchased builds or assessing saved resumes. Connections use HTTPS; Firestore provides encryption for data stored in its cloud database and TLS for database transfers, as described in Google’s encryption documentation. These protections do not make data inaccessible to the service or processors that operate your requested features. Authorized service operators may need access for support, security or legal requirements. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Optional browser drafts are separate local copies; cloud database encryption does not describe browser storage.

Your information and choices

Resume imports (PDF, Word .docx and text) are extracted in your browser. Original files are not uploaded by this program. Structured fields can contain your chosen contact details, military and civilian employment, education, qualifications, awards, unclassified deployments, releasable clearance details, training, skills, languages and projects. Include only information you have permission to process. Never submit SSNs, birth dates, classified information, medical records, VA claim records, passwords, or sensitive military documents.

OpenAI and Anthropic

AI services used by Veteran Career Path include OpenAI and Anthropic. The paid resume program uses the provider configured on our server: OpenAI or Anthropic. Requesting an AI build sends the fixed resume text, target role, job announcement, application type and additional verified details through our server to the configured provider. OpenAI requests set store:false. That setting is not a guarantee of zero retention. Provider API security, processing and retention terms apply; we do not promise zero data retention or that submitted data never leaves your device. Neither provider's browser tracking script is loaded by this program.

AI processing requires its own agreement. Canceling a browser request cannot recall data already sent to a provider. AI can make factual mistakes. Review every title, duty, date, number, qualification, clearance status and application requirement. We do not guarantee employment, ATS results, federal acceptance, preference or eligibility.

Guest access

You may start without an email account. Drafts stay in this browser unless you choose device storage, save to an account, or start a paid AI build. Guest checkout creates a private, temporary Firebase sign-in identity with session-only browser persistence. Purchase records, submitted build inputs, AI results and any clarification answers are stored for recovery under that identity. Guest access can be lost when the browser session ends, storage is cleared, or you sign out. Create a new email/password account from the guest session to keep that identity and its purchases. Signing in to a different existing account does not transfer guest purchases. Contact support with your transaction reference if access is lost. Never send card details.

Program accounts and optional saves

Free resume-program sign-in uses a separate named Firebase app session in the existing veteran-career-builder Firebase project. No main-site subscription or access code is required. Firebase authentication identities use the same project: if an email already exists there, sign in or reset its password. Main-site membership is not purchased, changed or required by this program.

Signing in does not automatically save your editor or structured background. Choosing “Also save the resume I submit to my account” before AI submission stores the submitted resume text, title, context and formatting settings as a saved version. This option is off by default. Other Save actions remain explicit choices. Saving a profile is authorized by choosing Save profile; optional saved resume versions, application records and edited cover letters also use the private-storage agreement. Saved profiles restore after sign-in. Program backgrounds and saved resumes use their own owner-only paths, separate from the main website profile and saved resumes. Saved editor versions include text, application context, title and formatting choices. Background saves include your structured fields. Firestore owner rules and server authorization restrict access; data is not automatically posted to a public profile. We do not enable Firestore offline disk caching.

Career profiles, applications, versions and cover letters

Career tools reuse your structured background as a career profile. Explicit Save actions store the profile, separate resume snapshots, job application records or edited cover letters in your private program account. Applications may include employer, job announcement, URL, application stage, applied/interview/follow-up dates, recruiter contact, notes and the ID/title of the resume version submitted. These dates do not schedule notifications. Only save contact details you have permission to use. Deleting a resume version does not delete a separate application record referencing its title.

The included AI career kit sends the fixed resume, verified details, job context and rewritten draft from your completed purchase to the configured OpenAI or Anthropic service. It produces requirement comparisons, service-skill translations, possible career directions. Cover letters are purchased separately for $1 each. It requires a separate AI agreement and is saved with the private purchase for recovery. Reopening the kit does not charge again. The kit uses that purchase’s fixed job context; another target requires a new build. AI suggestions are not verified credentials, job offers, ATS scores or eligibility decisions. Cover-letter edits remain in the current tab until explicitly saved or downloaded. The app does not automatically apply to jobs or contact recruiters.

Optional resume-to-profile import

After importing a resume, you can choose to review suggested profile updates section by section. You can also import a file directly from Profile. File reading and field suggestions run on your device; this feature does not send the file or extracted text to an AI provider. Suggestions may misread formatting or miss information. Check each field and its source text, choose Add as new or an existing entry to update, and approve only accurate details. Missing facts, military skill levels, rank-based qualifications and civilian federal grades are not invented.

For signed-in accounts, choosing Apply & save this section saves approved fields to your private program profile. Other fields and entries are preserved. Skipped sections are unchanged. Guest updates stay in the current browser session until you create an account and explicitly save your profile. A failed save keeps approved edits in the profile editor and offers a retry. The original source file is not stored by this import. Updating your private profile does not change a saved resume or publish/update a digital CV.

Optional public digital CV

A digital CV is a separate, opt-in public snapshot. Nothing is published when you sign in, save a private profile or complete an AI build. In Share a digital CV, choose sections, inspect the public preview and agree before publishing or updating. Name, professional headline, summary and selected career sections are published. Email, phone, city/state/country and LinkedIn are off by default and are published only when selected. Clearance fields, supervisor contacts, credential identifiers, private notes, purchase records, medical and VA fields, original files and resume photos are not copied into this feature. Review your own descriptions for sensitive information; automatic field exclusions cannot detect every sensitive fact in free text.

Published snapshots are stored in Firebase’s publicly readable publicProfiles collection and served through profiles.veterancareerpath.com. They include the publishing account identifier, a program-specific link identifier, timestamps and selected public content. They are separate from both private app records and public profiles created on the main website. Anyone can view, copy or redistribute the public page without an account. Search indexing is discouraged by default; you may allow indexing, but this preference is not access control. Do not treat an unlisted link as confidential. The public page itself does not send profile content to an AI service.

Profile edits do not automatically change the live CV: refresh from your profile, check the preview and publish an update to the same link. Unpublish deletes this app’s active public snapshot, with a short public-page cache refresh; downloaded copies, screenshots, social previews and search caches can persist. Deleting your private background or saved resume does not unpublish this separate snapshot. Use Unpublish in My digital CV, or contact support for removal. Account data export includes the current published snapshot. Authentication/account deletion requests should include public CV removal. Hosting providers may process access logs when anyone opens a public link.

Purchases and recovery storage

Beginning a $1.99 USD checkout requires a separate storage agreement. We first save a purchase record in private, server-owned Firebase records; no resume is needed for checkout. After Stripe verifies payment, or a completed $0 coupon checkout, the builder unlocks. When you consent to AI processing and submit your resume, we store its fixed input and application context, then its AI review and rewritten result when successful. If you use the included clarification update, we also store the answers and updated result. This lets you return after cancellation, payment, a connection failure or an AI failure without losing a purchase. Purchase records include your account ID, build ID, timestamps, status, amount, currency and Stripe session ID. Original imported files and full card details are not stored by this program.

Stripe receives purchase identifiers, price and payment information entered at Stripe-hosted checkout; our checkout request does not include resume text or service details. Stripe operates payment, fraud-prevention and financial recordkeeping under its own policies. Card entry occurs on Stripe, not our resume form. A failed AI build remains retryable under the same purchase. Formatting and downloading that result do not require another purchase.

Separate cover letter purchases

A $1 cover letter purchase privately stores your selected resume text, target role, optional company, job posting and verified details with a unique letter order. After Stripe verifies payment, the stored text is sent to our configured AI provider to generate that letter. The result and any saved manual edits stay with the same private order for recovery and repeat downloads. Stripe receives purchase identifiers and price, not resume or job text. Cover letters lists your purchases, lets you reopen or retry an existing order, and delete its input, result and edits. Minimal payment records may remain for accounting and disputes. Previously saved letters remain in your account. New letters are not published to your Virtual CV or shared automatically.

Retention, export and deletion

Saved backgrounds, saved resumes, and checkout build inputs/results remain until deleted or an account-deletion request is processed. Use Delete resume in My resumes for individual saved documents, Delete on application records or saved cover letters, Delete saved workspace background, or Delete data beside a purchase to remove that input, clarification answers, AI result and generated career kit from the active database. Deleting one purchased template removes its finished document, account-library copy and saved career assessment; other templates, the original submitted build and payment receipt remain. Deleting a purchase's data does not cancel payment, issue a refund or make the deleted result recoverable. Minimal transaction identifiers and accounting/security records may be retained for legal obligations and dispute handling. In-progress builds must finish before their data can be deleted.

Download my account data exports the program background, up to 50 saved editor versions, up to 100 application records and up to 100 saved cover letters. Cover letters displays up to 100 letter purchases, which can be opened and downloaded individually. Purchase history displays up to 50 builds; each can reopen its original input and result for download. For a full export, older records, correction, deletion of all program data, or identity/account deletion, contact support. Tell us whether you mean only this resume program or your shared Firebase identity, since deleting the identity affects other website tools. The main Privacy Policy's deletion timelines and backup-retention provisions apply. Deleting data does not erase downloaded files, other devices, financial records or provider-retained processing records.

Optional experience feedback

After you finish and save a resume, you can choose 1 to 5 stars and send an optional comment. Sending is optional. Feedback is stored privately in Firebase for authorized VCP Resume administrators to read; it is not published, sent to an AI provider or sent to Google Analytics. We record the date and whether this purchase has already been prompted or rated, so repeat downloads do not ask again. Each purchase can submit one rating. Do not include resume or personal details in comments. Deleting all data for that purchase also deletes its feedback; deleting only a saved design or library copy does not. Share app opens your device sharing choices or copies the public app link; it does not automatically send a message or include your resume or CV link.

Optional app usage analytics

With this optional choice, the isolated measurement document also sends batches of predefined event names, screen categories and coarse sources to our server. We store daily aggregate counts in Firebase for owner reporting. These totals contain no browser or session IDs, account or purchase IDs, names, emails, resume text, full URLs, filenames, interest answers, VA information or crisis-help activity. They are not a count of unique people. The server uses a transient salted network-address hash for rate limiting; it does not save that hash or an IP address with activity totals. Hosting providers may still process normal security logs. Daily anonymous totals are retained for trend reporting. Turning analytics off drops unsent batches and stops future counts; an individual cannot be identified or removed from earlier aggregate totals.

On a first visit, a privacy popup lets you choose Essential only or Allow analytics before using the app. Essential only keeps every feature available. Escape also chooses essential storage only. We remember your choice; you can change it in Settings. If your browser sends a supported Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, optional analytics stays off and the app does not ask you to override that signal. Usage analytics is off until you choose Allow usage analytics. This app has its own choice in Settings → Cookie & storage preferences; it does not inherit the main website's analytics or advertising choices. Declining does not change app features, prices or account access. We also keep analytics off when the browser sends a supported Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.

If you allow it, Google Analytics measures general app screens, coarse traffic sources such as TikTok or LinkedIn, checkout requests, verified checkout returns, import success/failure, resume-review requests/results, downloads and time using ordinary app screens. It uses a randomly generated browser identifier and session identifier, not your Firebase identity, email or sign-in details. These identifiers can distinguish a consenting browser across visits; they are not a guarantee of anonymity. Google receives ordinary connection/device information, including the IP address needed to receive requests, and can derive broad location/device reports under its policies. We do not send names, emails, resume or job text, filenames, photos, service details, interests answers, card data, purchase/build identifiers, full application URLs, query strings or public CV links as analytics event data.

Tracking code runs in a separate-origin, sandboxed measurement document, without access to the resume editor. Events are limited to predefined names and categorical fields. Analytics is paused on the VA calculator and while emergency help is open. Calculator conditions, ratings, dependent details, crisis-help selections and support calls are not analytics events. Public Virtual CV pages do not receive this app analytics tag. There are no advertising tags, heatmaps, session recordings or automatic form-field capture in the editor.

The analytics choice is remembered for up to 180 days. With permission, a random browser identifier lasts up to 90 days; an analytics session renews after 30 minutes without measured activity. A tab-only list of hashed checkout references avoids counting a verified return repeatedly; those hashes are not sent to Google. Turning analytics off clears the app's analytics identifiers and stops new measurement. It does not erase events already sent to Google, essential account/purchase records or main-site cookies. Provider retention and settings apply to previously collected analytics. Google Analytics and hosting providers process connection information under their own policies. Cookies, logs and security

See the Cookie Policy for essential account storage, opt-in device drafts, payment cookies and separate main-site preferences. Optional usage analytics runs only after its separate app choice, as explained below. This workspace has no advertising, social embeds or session recording. TikTok opens only when you choose the external link. Account-specific abuse counters do not contain resume text. Application code does not log resume bodies, AI results, credentials or identity tokens. Hosting and providers may retain operational connection/security logs. Data travels over HTTPS; authorized operators and providers may access it as needed to operate, secure and support the service. No system guarantees absolute security.

Finished resumes and CV updates

Saving a chosen design keeps the selected resume text, template and formatting privately with your purchase. Downloading that design saves your latest edits to the same purchase, and saves a finished copy in My resumes for a signed-in app account. Additional-template checkout sends Stripe only purchase and template identifiers. Loading a resume into the digital CV creates a private preview on your device; publishing remains a separate explicit choice and replaces the public snapshot at the same link.
